A circa 1940s bottling of Bacardi Carta Blanca Superior distilled by the Bacardi family at their Santiago de Cuba distilleries. The brand was founded in 1862 by Facundo Bacardi Masso, a Catalonian merchant who opened two distilleries to create both a light and heavy style of rum. His blended rum was a huge hit and allowed Facundo to purchase more and more distilleries, expanding further into Mexico and Puerto Rico. The Bacardi family held the firm until the company was seized by Fidel Castro in 1959 amid the Cuban Revolution. As the nation began nationalising industry, Bacardi moved its headquarters and continued production in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Spain, Canada and Mexico. This was bottled in Spain under the supervision of the Bacardi family who opened bottling facilities there in 1910. The tax stamp affixed to this bottle suggests this is likely a liter sized bottling, whilst BAXUS cannot be 100% certain of this the physical size of the bottle indicates this to be accurate.
