Salary range: $125,000–$165,000 + equity.
About This Role
BAXUS sits on one of the most valuable datasets in the spirits world: real-time pricing, auction results, transaction history, bottle authentication data, and collector behavior. Our thesis is that data is our moat. We need someone to prove it.
You will own the data infrastructure and analytics function. You will turn raw marketplace data into the pricing intelligence, valuation models, and product insights that make BAXUS indispensable to collectors, insurers, and lenders.
What You'll Do
- Build and own the data pipeline from ingestion to insight (marketplace transactions, auction scrapers, bottle scans, user behavior)
- Develop the real-time valuation engine that powers pricing across the platform
- Create analytics dashboards for internal decision-making (marketplace health, unit economics, cohort analysis)
- Build data products that become revenue streams (pricing API, insurance valuations, lending risk models)
- Partner with engineering on search relevance, recommendation systems, and matching algorithms
- Define data quality standards and governance as the platform scales
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 5+ years in data engineering, analytics, or data science, ideally at a marketplace or fintech
- Strong SQL, Python, and experience with modern data stack (dbt, BigQuery/Snowflake, Airflow, or similar)
- Experience building pricing models, valuation engines, or risk scoring systems
- You think about data as a product, not just a support function
- Comfortable being the first dedicated data hire and building the function from zero

- Interest in alternative assets, collectibles, or financial infrastructure
