VP of Sales / Head of Business Development

Base salary: $130,000–$175,000 + commission + equity. This is a leadership role with a direct path to CRO.
About This Role
BAXUS is the marketplace for fine and rare wine and spirits. We are scaling fast, with significant peer-to-peer volume, a growing vault network, and new product lines launching quarterly. We need a sales leader who can turn momentum into pipeline.
You will own revenue growth across every channel: marketplace GMV, enterprise partnerships, institutional buyers, distillery relationships, and new verticals like wine. You will build and run the sales function from the ground up, working directly with the CEO.
What You'll Do
- Build and manage the sales pipeline from sourcing to close
- Develop and execute partnership strategies with distilleries, auction houses, retailers, and institutional buyers
- Drive marketplace supply growth by onboarding high-value sellers and consignors
- Identify and close enterprise deals (vaulting partnerships, white-label, API integrations)
- Own revenue targets and report directly to the CEO
- Represent BAXUS at industry events, trade shows, and investor meetings
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 7+ years in sales or business development, ideally in marketplaces, luxury goods, fintech, or wine/spirits
- Track record of closing six- and seven-figure deals
- Comfortable building a sales function from scratch, not just inheriting one
- You move fast, communicate clearly, and do not need to be managed
Strong to Have
- Deep rolodex in spirits, wine, collectibles, or adjacent luxury categories
Nice to Have
- Genuine interest in wine and spirits (not required, but you will enjoy this job more if you care about what we sell)
