“We built BoozApp on one simple idea: finding the right bottle at the right price should not be a mystery. Years on, that idea has a name, Hunts, and a home, BAXUS. This is the moment it all comes together, and we could not be prouder to share it with the community that got us here.”

— Scott and Rich, co-founders of BoozApp

Hunts is a feature we have wanted to build since the very beginning. It was one of the first goals both BoozApp and BAXUS set out with, from the day each of them launched, and the belief behind it has never changed: the whiskey world should be more open, more fun, and a lot less intimidating.

Bringing it to life at last, all under one BAXUS banner, is a big deal, and we thank you for joining us on this journey.

Hunts are live in the app. And the app you know and love is now, officially, BAXUS.

Here are the updates.

What Hunts is, and why we’re so excited

Every whiskey lover already does a version of this. You walk into a liquor store, you spot a bottle on the shelf, and you quickly start running the math in your head. Is that a good price? Is it a steal? Is it a rip-off? Should I buy it now or check the next store down the street?

You have been hunting for years. You just never had anywhere to track it.

Now you do. Open BAXUS, scan the barcode on any bottle on the shelf, and log the price you see. That is a hunt. It takes no time at all, it costs nothing, and every hunt earns you points. All the points you earn give you entries into weekly, and sometimes daily, raffles to win rare wine and spirits.

Here is the part that we’re most proud of: every price you log makes the whole system smarter, and that comes right back to you.

Whiskey pricing has always been a black box, a mess of allocations, markups, and guesswork that mostly rewards the people already on the inside. Hunts turns thousands of everyday store runs into the first honest, ground-level map of what bottles actually cost out in the wild.

The more we all hunt, the sharper that picture gets, so the next time you are standing in an aisle weighing up a bottle, you will know in seconds whether it is a steal or a stretch. You play a game and win whiskey. In return, you get the fastest, most honest read on what anything is really worth, right when you need it.

“Hunts isn’t just a feature, it’s a new community signal for the market. Hunters can contribute bottle sightings from the wild, earn recognition for helping others, and make BAXUS pricing and availability smarter for everyone. That’s the ethos of why we started BAXUS, to bring light to this market through more transparent pricing, access, and data.”

— Carrie Kellar, CTO

How it works

It is about as simple as we could make it.
1. Find a bottle in a store and scan the barcode.
2. Log the price on the shelf.
3. Earn ten points.
That is the whole loop. Turn your location on when the app asks, since a hunt is tied to the store you are standing in, and you are instantly added to the weekly leaderboard.

Three taps: scan the barcode, log the shelf price, earn your points.

More hunts mean more points, and more points mean more entries. We will be drawing a winner every week all summer long.

To mark the launch, we are going to be dropping bottles much more frequently, and at random, over the coming weeks, so it’s a very good time to get out there and start scanning.

Every scan is an entry. The board resets every week, so everyone starts fresh.

No purchase, no catch. Free to play, and real bottles to win.

About the name

We have been running under two names for a while now, and it has been a little confusing, so let’s clear it up.

BoozApp was the app. BAXUS was the marketplace, the vault, and the data. Same team, same mission, two names.

Now they are one. BoozApp is BAXUS, fully, and everything you built in the app comes with you: your collection, your wishlist, your logins, all of it. Nothing to rebuild, nothing to set up again.

The app you love, now part of something much bigger.

If you are opening it for the first time, welcome. And if you have been with us from the early days, whether you found us through BoozApp or BAXUS, thank you. You are the reason we got to where we are today.

“Everything we’ve built at BAXUS points to one goal: a unified ecosystem where collectors can discover, price, authenticate, and trade in one place. That’s why we brought Scott, Rich, and BoozApp aboard three years ago. They had the best community data in spirits, we had the marketplace, and we knew the real product was the two together. Hunts is that product. And there’s a lot more coming.”

— Tzvi Wiesel, CEO

One more thing

You may have noticed a new tab sitting at the bottom of your screen. That is the Marketplace, and it is coming to the app very soon.

Before long you will be able to buy, bid on, and sell bottles without ever leaving the app, with every purchase landing instantly in your insured vault. We will have a lot more to say about that shortly. For now, consider this your heads up.

This is just the beginning

Hunts is the feature our whole team has been itching to ship. It was there in the earliest BoozApp sketches, it has been a major motivator for the team, and getting it into your hands is a real milestone for all of us. It is also one step on a much bigger road.

“I have spent my whole career in this industry, and the same thing has always frustrated me. The people with the great bottles and the people who want them are kept apart by a market that is needlessly opaque and far too complicated, for drinkers and brands alike, and nowhere more so than in America. BAXUS exists to be the bridge between them, and to bring real, live pricing to a corner of the world that has run on guesswork for too long. Hunts is where it starts, and this is just the beginning.”
